Heath Ledger’s ex Michelle Williams ‘demands control’ of his biopic – as Hollywood heavyweights tabled offers to make the film

It’s been 14 years since Heath Ledger tragically died of an overdose at the age of 28.

But it seems that Hollywood is now fighting over which Hollywood director will turn the legendary actor’s life into a blockbuster film.

According to Woman’s Day, his ex-fiancé Michelle Williams has been protective of Heath’s personal life, while his father Kim Ledger has been more accepting of his fascination with his late son.

Perth resident Kim said he has “no doubt” someone will one day do a biopic about his son’s life and tragic death from an overdose “if the timing is right… [I’m] not sure when that will be’.

Michelle told People magazine that she’s very supportive of her best friend Busy Philipps playing her in a film.

“She knows me better than anyone,” Michelle, 42, recently admitted.

Sources say that if the project gets the green light, Michelle is determined to ensure her role goes to Busy and that the project focuses on her and Heath’s love story and Matilda’s happy childhood.

“The idea has been buzzing around studio boardrooms for a long time, but none of Heath’s friends or family would ever step up to help,” they added.

However, sources close to Michelle insist that when it comes to putting together a movie about the love of your life, “film executives better be careful what they wish for.”

“She’s very protective and wants full control of Heath’s story, and she won’t be moved by things that she probably won’t like — like the cast of Busy.”

Heath and Michelle began dating, and in less than a year they announced they were expecting a daughter together.

The couple welcomed daughter Matilda, their only child, in October 2005.

Heath died on January 22, 2008 in a New York City apartment after accidentally overdosing on medication after months of physical and mental exhaustion.

'I remember [Heath] looked at her and she looked at him with those big eyes. She was almost startled by the attention he was giving her, but you could see it every day from then on. It really was love at first sight for him. He was so taken with her,

Reportedly a longtime drug user, things came to a head when he juggled too many films – including his most recent role The Dark Knight – with very little sleep and began relying on various recipe cocktails to shut his mind down.

“I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted and my mind was still working,” he told the New York Times in an interview in November — just two months before he died at the age of 28.

He was found to have taken a lethal combination of six drugs: two types of narcotics, two types of anti-anxiety drugs and two types of sleeping pills.
