Heavy rain was feared for Wednesday in Istria (Croatia). In the afternoon, the storm caused chaos in the city of Labin.

As the Labin municipality’s Facebook channel announced in several videos, the rain had already left a single trail of destruction on Wednesday afternoon: a secondary road near a wooded area was literally covered by a waterfall. Drivers could only continue driving with great caution.

Up to 160 liters of rain per cubic meter

As reported by local media, more than 160 liters of rainwater per cubic meter fell in the Croatian city of Labin in the last 24 hours. In the town of Raša, near Labin, parts of the town were completely flooded. Another video shows the devastating consequences of the storm:

The Croatian meteorological service “DHMZ” published a severe weather warning for southern and western Croatia on its X (formerly Twitter) profile on Wednesday.
