Heineman was disappointed with his camp

After making a strong impression this time last year, Montreal Canadiens prospect Emil Heineman appears to be disappointed with his camp so far.

“It’s hard to assess, but I feel like I’m not where I want to be right now. I always try to work as hard as I can to improve my lot.”

A little egged on by the journalists, Heineman suggested that these were certain “details” that were missing from his game and then delved into his thoughts.

“I want to create more things. That’s not bad. Create more things inside the faceoff points, in hard-to-reach places. I don’t want to stay on the outskirts of the city.”

Ultimately, the competition is fierce and of course no one hopeful wants to give up even a millimeter to the other.

“You have to be as focused as possible every day. It’s the highest level of competition,” explained the Swede.

St-Louis sees potential

For his part, head coach Martin St-Louis did not want to give any particular reason, which explains the young attacker’s rather hesitant attitude.

“I don’t necessarily know what he’s missing,” he admitted. He is still learning to play on the small ice rink. There are boys in the front. It’s a combination of all of these things. You can see that he has the potential to play regularly in the National League.

“Will it be this year? We do not know yet. He’s getting closer.”
