Henry Cavill says goodbye to his role as Superman

Filmmaker James Gunn, President of DC Studios, has announced that he is writing the next Superman movie. However, actor Henry Cavill, who has performed the superhero since 2013, will not appear in the new super production. On Thursday the 15th, Cavill took to social media to confirm the information published by Gunn.

“I just met James Gunn and Peter Safran and I have some sad news,” the actor wrote on his page official profile on Instagram🇧🇷 “I will not come back as Superman. It’s my turn to wear the cloak, but what the character represents will never fade.”

Cavill recently said he has a special role in the Warner Bros film Adam Black. “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that,” the artist added. “James and Peter have to build a universe. I wish them and everyone involved with the new universe the best of luck and happiness.”

In 2023, Cavill debuted as a superhero in Man of Steel. The feature film grossed more than US$600 million (just over R$3 billion) at the worldwide box office. After that, the actor returned to cinema and took part in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). Together, the three add up to more than US$2 billion (over R$10.5 billion).
