February is the month of love. Here are the ten new songs that got our hearts beating between snowfalls.

Apparently, La Zarra

(CB) – This is the song with which Quebecer La Zarra hopes to give France its first Eurovision title since 1977 old French chanson and dance music.

heresy, Steffi shock

(RGM) – Composed around the time of the album Le Décor, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, this unreleased track has been shelved all along due to a money dispute between Stefie and her co-composer. This is where our greatest joy comes to light.

Over there, Jack Layne

(SEN) – Taken from the second EP L’art du commun volume 2, this track allows us to fully enjoy the lyrics of this young Quebec rapper. Coming from a family of musicians (his cousin is Louis-Jean Cormier), we can feel his love for music the first time we hear this song with its catchy chorus.

Friend, Etienne Daho

(CB) – The first excerpt from Étienne Daho’s forthcoming album is a languishing treatise on love that the French singer behind the hits Saudade and Tombé pour la France released on Valentine’s Day with an undeniable sense of opportunism.

I dance, Maude Audet

(RGM) – The aesthetic of the 1960s, reminiscent of the yéyé era of France Gall and Françoise Hardy, is evoked on this new title. A catchy tune that bears its name well because you can hear it with a nod.

The machine, Samuele

(SEN) – We urge you not to shake while listening to La machine by Samuele. This song from the album A spangle in the gear is a good barometer of the eccentricity, color and sense of hope that emerges from this book-album, which has strong themes (particularly the search for identity) set against the background rhythmic music examined.

You missed me, Isabelle Bolay

(CB) – In my heart there is Bashung and the others in France. I’m telling you how much I await Isabelle Boulay’s cover album project by the late creator of La nuit je mens avec une brique et un laterne. Relief, the first sample passes the test. Final verdict on March 17th.

White gloves, Marilyn Leonhard

(RGM) – There is an assumed duality in this piece from the author-composer, who likes to explore shifts in direction. After a quiet game we dive into sensitivity and melancholy.

Words have no more place, Simon Lakance

(SEN) – How good it is to listen to this upbeat excerpt from Simon Lachance’s indie, folk and electropop album Le chemin des potscasses. We can imagine her playing loudly in the car with the windows open as she drives carefree to a new destination this summer.

the one who waits, VioletTT Pi

(CB) – Few of you, dear readers, know this musical project by Karl Gagnon. Listening to this short and captivating slice of alternative pop should pique your curiosity about this artist with a polished pen and a melodic flair.
