At least two superyachts owned by Russian oligarchs have been detained by European Union authorities after leaders were sanctioned following their country’s invasion of Ukraine.

The move to target these assets comes when the US Department of Justice announced a new working group to help impose broad sanctions on Russian oligarchs. The working group will use various tools at its disposal, including cryptocurrency tracking, to track assets, confiscate and prosecute those who violate sanctions.

Meanwhile, the United States and its allies have imposed devastating sanctions on President Vladimir Putin and key Russian financial institutions, including the country’s central bank.

French authorities have seized a massive yacht that they say is linked to Igor Sechin, a Russian billionaire who is the CEO of the state oil company Rosneft. He previously served as Russia’s deputy prime minister in Putin’s government. Forbes reports that Sechin is known in Russian business circles as Darth Vader.

Earlier, Sechin was subject to EU sanctions following the invasion of Ukraine.

Forbes reports that the 500-foot superyacht of Russian billionaire and business tycoon Alisher Usmanov has been captured in Germany. Usamov is also sanctioned by the EU.

The yacht, called Dilbar, has a swimming pool on the main deck and can accommodate 36 guests, according to the Superyacht Fan website. The site estimates that the price of the yacht is between 800 million and 1 billion dollars.
