Here you will find everything you need to know about the new film about the Marvel Universe – TVA Nouvelles

Four years later Captain Marvel, Brie Larson is making her comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (UCM). But she is not alone. In The wondersShe is joined by Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).

In Marvel, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) suffers the unexpected consequences of the destabilization of the universe. When she investigates a wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary as Captain Marvel, her powers actually merge with those of Kamala Khan, aka Miss Marvel, and Carol’s niece, Monica Rambeau. The three women will therefore team up, join forces and learn to work together to save the universe.

The script, written by director Nia DaCosta as well as Megan McDonnell (WandaVision) and Elissa Karasik, therefore had to be, in the filmmaker’s words, “fun and entertaining” during the filming of this big-budget feature. “The three heroines swap places with each other, so it’s a bit messy and chaotic and I wanted that to reflect in their attitude. Because the humor of Captain Marvel is different from that of Miss Marvel, one is a 63-year-old woman in the body of a thirty-year-old and the other is a 16-year-old teenager from New Jersey spending time with her idol. I really wanted all of these aspects to be included, the relationship between the three women was essential to me.

Characters…

In addition to the three heroines with superhuman powers, Marvel offers a gallery of characters, some of whom are well known to fans of films in the genre.

-Nick Fury. Played by Samuel L. Jackson, the former SHIELD director now works at SABER, a space station that serves as an alien contact point and defense against threats associated with an expanding universe.

– Kaiser Dro’ge. Gary Lewis becomes the leader of the Skrulls, whose existence is once again threatened by the Krees.

– Prince Yan. It is Seo-Jun Park who gives his facial features to the ruler of the planet Aladna, a friend of Carol Danvers.

– Muneeba, Yusuf and Aamir Khan. Kamala’s mother is played by Zenobia Shroff while her father is played by Mohan Kapur and her brother is played by Saagar Shaikh.

The miracles in a few numbers…

As with all superhero films, it’s easy to get dizzy with the numbers! Here are some related to filming, which began in England in July 2021…

– 54: The number of separate sets built for The Marvels on eight sets. This includes five planets, a space station, five ships, two escape shuttles, two escape pods, a space elevator, a Cessna and…three houses.

– 1: the number of golf courses used in the film. This is the stretch of the Longcross British Studios that served as the construction site for the set of Maria Rambeau’s house that we see in Captain Marvel. The house was also remodeled identically, so fans won’t notice any difference.

– 1000: Costume designer Lindsay Pugh’s team designed more than 1,000 costumes for the film, including all of the clothing for supporting characters and extras.

“Marvel”: A box office hit that doesn’t look strong

Kevin Feige knows it well: the UCM’s glory hour is over. This year, Marvel/Disney’s revenue didn’t meet expectations, and no one expects Marvel to do as well as Captain Marvel, which grossed $1.1 billion in 2019. And Marvel boss also knows that the actors’ strike, Brie Larson and… Other actresses promoting this new superhero film will not improve the already dire situation.

UCM’s Phase 5 opened last February with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which grossed just $476.1 million (on a budget of $200 million excluding commercials). Certainly, “Guardians of the Galaxy” volume 3 brought in $845 million, revenue that can be attributed to the fact that it is the final part of the series directed by James Gunn, now the big boss of the DC franchise at the Warner Studios, imagined series.

In terms of TV and UCM, Ms Marvel, which focuses on the character Kamala Khan, is the least-watched Marvel series on Disney+ (Loki dominates the charts by far), with 780,000 viewers, according to Neilsen’s numbers compiled by Statista. And fans of WandaVision, a series watched by 1.6 million D+ subscribers who are therefore familiar with Monica Rambeau and her powers, will not put a significant dent in The Marvels’ box office.

Another reason for concern is the first advance online ticket sales. Marvel was met with very little enthusiasm as sales were 42% lower than Eternals, a blockbuster with a paltry worldwide revenue of $402.1 million in 2021.

Analysts aren’t betting on Marvel’s numbers. But what’s being said in the hallways is clear: This 33rd UCM film risks not breaking $500 million in grosses.

Brie Larson and online hate

In 2019, Captain Marvel became the first Marvel film with a woman as the main character. But as soon as the choice of Brie Larson – Oscar winner, it should be remembered – was announced, Internet users went wild thanks to the anonymity of social networks and forums.

The situation has become so serious that Samuel L. Jackson, who is reprising his role as Nick Fury in Marvel, is complaining. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the actress insisted she’s “not going to let all of this destroy her.” He then wondered who Brie Larson’s haters were: “Those incel guys who hate strong women, or the fact that she’s a feminist, that she has an opinion and expresses it?”

Marvel hits cinema screens on November 10th.
