Families who benefit from the child tax credit will receive up to $205.00 as long as they have one or more children under the age of 17 in their household. The process is not carried out throughout the United States. Here we tell you which states are still paying their eligible people. Idaho still provides the child tax credit mentioned above; in fact, it is one of the few states that continues to provide this financial support. This financial relief is non-refundable, meaning it is not part of the taxpayer’s income tax liability.
In this state, the maximum direct payment for each child under 17 is $205.00. This is established by the law signed for this purpose and has been in force since 2018. It expires in January 2026. Financial support is also intended for people with permanent disabilities.
The child tax credit is very similar to its federal counterpart, which expired in 2022. Until this year, it provided eligible households with between $3,000.00 and $3,600.00 for each member ages 6 to 17.
Other states pay the child tax credit
In New York, for example, this type of direct payment is also distributed to eligible families. The plan includes the Empire State Child Tax Credit. To qualify, households must have children between the ages of 4 and 16. The payments are up to $300.00 and the goal is to cover some of the basic needs.
The exact amount depends on the annual income of eligible families. For example, for a joint filer family to qualify, the income limit must be $100,000.00, the minimum allowable income.
In Maryland, families with children under 6 can now begin claiming the tax credit. The payment is $500.00 and will be paid starting next year.
