They really are our best friends! A 2yearold dog saw her owner being attacked by a mountain lion and went to defend her.
Erin Wilson, 24, was walking her pet Eva in a rural area in California, United States, when the wild animal appeared and attacked her this Monday (16).
He even scratched his shoulder to the point of severing Erin’s jacket. Luckily her fearless dog ran up to the animal and started fighting it. “She hit the lion really hard,” Erin told the Daily Mail.
The young woman said that the mountain lion looked weak after the dog attacked, but its strength was still greater than that of the 55kilogram dog and was only two and a half years old.
“They fought for a few seconds, and then I heard her start crying,” Erin said.
The teacher ran to save Eva
The wild animal sank one of its claws into the pup’s head.
Then Eve’s tutor also got involved in the fight and tried to get the lion to release the cub. She threw punches, threw stones, branches and whatever else she found in front of her.
“The lion hit her on the left side of the head. In the next few minutes, I tried everything to free her,” the educator recalls.
Seeing that the effort was not working, the girl ran to her car to get an iron bar.
However, along the way, she ran into Sharon Houston, who was carrying a piece of PVC and pepper spray.
After a stinging gleam in his eyes, the mountain lion finally let go of the dog and fled.
taken to the vet
The nearest vet was 1 hour away. Nevertheless, the tutor still had time to run away and save Eva.
Halfway through, the heroine’s dog began to have seizures. Erin said that every time she had a fit, she thought she wouldn’t survive.
According to the owner, the dog sustained two fractures: a perforation in its skull and a swelling in its left eye, blocking its view.
Vets are optimistic that Eva will survive.
Taking to Instagram, Erin said the dog is making progress and should be released!
“This is Eva sleeping with the toy I bought her today. We took her outside to the bathroom and laid her on the grass before going inside to talk to the doctors. Eva has to go home tomorrow. Again, we can’t thank everyone enough,” he wrote.
Erin assured her that when she’s feeling better, she’ll shower Eva with presents, her favorite stuffed animals, and a big steak.
“My dog is my hero and I owe him my life,” he said.
