Herschel Walker says if he paid for an ex’s abortion it would be ‘nothing to be ashamed of’

Herschel Walker insists he doesn’t know the woman who claims he paid her for an abortion as the Republican Senate nominee from Georgia faces several surprise scandals in October – including his conservative influencer son publicly speaking out against him .

Walker told radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday morning that if he had paid for a former partner of his to terminate their child’s pregnancy, he would have admitted, claiming it was “nothing to be ashamed of,” despite his consistency pro-life attitude.

A report from The Daily Beast Monday alleges a woman showed the reporter a personalized check for $700 and a “health card” she received from Walker, urging her to rest, relax and recover.

She said the funds were for an abortion and backed her claim with a receipt for $575 from an abortion clinic in 2009.

Walker completely denied all of the anonymous woman’s claims in a Fox News interview hours after the article was published. He also released a statement along the same lines.

Republican Senate candidate from Georgia Herschel Walker said he would admit if he paid a former partner to have an abortion because it “is nothing to be ashamed of” — though he unfailingly shares his anti-abortion stance

The former NFL star said in his radio interview Thursday when asked further about the claims, “I know that’s not true.”

“I don’t know anything about a woman having an abortion,” he said, before launching into a bewildering array of excuses, claiming that if he paid for an abortion, he would be forgiven because it was his past life.

When pressed further when he needed forgiveness, the contestant backed off and said “no.”

“I hate to say I’m born again, but I have a new life,” Walker said. “And I’ve moved forward.

“If that had happened, I would have said so because it’s nothing to be ashamed of,” he claimed.

“You know, people have done that, but I don’t know anything about it. And if I knew about it, I’d be honest and talk about it, but I don’t know anything about it,” Walker concluded.

The Georgia Senate race is one of the most closely watched in the country as Republicans seek to regain control of Congress.

In the midterm elections in November, Walker will run against incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock.

Walker is vehemently pro-life, and said in May 2022 he was staunchly anti-abortion.

He told reporters: “For me, there is no exception. Like I said, I believe in life. I believe in life.”

“You never know what will become of a child,” he continued at the time. “And I’ve seen some people, they’ve had tough times, but I’ve always said, ‘No matter what, tough times make tough people.'”

Walker has called for more funding for adoption and support for single parents.

The candidate’s only named child, Christian Walker, 22, said he asked his father not to run for the Senate because of the immense burden of his past.

The son of the former NFL star and his college friend Cindy Grossman tweeted: “Every member of Herschel Walker’s family asked him not to run for office because we all knew (a bit of) his past. Every single one.’

“He decided to give us the middle finger and air out all his dirty laundry in public while lying about it at the same time,” he continued.

He followed that up in another tweet on Wednesday night, seemingly aimed at his father, saying: “Wear a condom dammit.”

Walker told Fox host Sean Hannity on Monday, apologizing for the report that he had sent funds to this anonymous woman: “I send money to so many people… I believe in being generous.”

However, his attorney Robert Ingram is quoted by The Daily Beast as claiming that the left-leaning media side’s recent attack is just a continuing trend to focus on smearing black conservative candidates.

“All you want to do is run with stories to appeal to black conservatives. They focus on black conservatives,” Ingram said.

Walker told Hewitt on Thursday, “You can say a lot of things, but I know for a fact no one has ever said that to me, or paid for an abortion. That never happened.’

The woman who claims Walker paid for her abortion has not been named or reported, and no other source has corroborated the report.

After the article was published, Walker vowed to sue The Daily Beast.

He wrote in a statement posted to his social media channels: “This is an outright lie and I deny it in the strongest terms.”

“This is yet another disgusting side job from a Democratic activist masquerading as a reporter who has obsessively attacked my family and tried to tear me down since this race began,” the statement said.

It continued: “He has been harassing friends of mine asking if I fathered their children. He called my kids a ‘secret’ because I didn’t want to use them as campaign props in a political campaign.”
