[Mis à jour le 11 mai 2022 à 15h50] The History-Geography, Geopolitics and Political Science (HGGSP) major is one of the most popular among high school students who, since Wednesday May 11, have to work on two majors applicable to the 2022 Baccalaureate: 2 p.m. and 4 hours long, Several tens of thousands of senior year students work on the dissertation or document study, a set that will account for a coefficient of 16 in the final grade. A second session is scheduled for tomorrow Thursday May 12th with another round of history geoscripts and candidates to black out them.
The very first themes of HGGSP are also known: an hour after the start of the tests, they were communicated behind closed doors by the Ministry of Education. Bac candidates had to choose between two dissertation topics and document study:
- Essay topic 1: “The Conquest of Space from 1957 to the Present: Rivalries and Cooperation”
- Essay Topic 2: “The United States and the Environment at Different Scales”.
- Critical document study: “The Development of Forms of War” with a print by Johann Lorenz Rugendas (1775-1826): “The Great Battle of Austerlitz, early 19th century” (Document 1) and an excerpt from an interview with US Special Forces Commander Stanley McChrystal (2003-2008) in Foreign Policy magazine in 2011 (Document 2).

The history and geography examination lasts 4 hours and is divided into two parts. The first is a dissertation and the second is a document study, which can be a photo, text or a map. The two exercises are compulsory for all candidates, but the Ministry has foreseen an adjustment: a doubling of the topic of the dissertation. For the first part of the exam, the candidate can therefore choose between two different dissertation topics, each of which relates to a topic of the degree program.
The document study will cover another topic explored during the year, so three of the four likely topics will be covered, meaning no topic should be neglected during the revision. If this seems like more work, this guide is primarily designed to give candidates the best chance of success.
On which dates will the Matura examination 2022 History-Geo take place?
The history geography test should normally be held in March, like all other technical school exams, but the Department for National Education has decided to postpone the series of tests until May to prevent certain candidates being disadvantaged by the consequences of the Covid-19. 19 Epidemic in the school system.
