More than 37,000 new Quebec households in 259 municipalities are now connected to the service.High speed internet from Videotron, responding to the mandate that Quebec and Ottawa had given the telecommunications company.
“This important achievement by the Videotron teams will allow thousands of regional households to have access to services of the same quality and at the same price as those offered in large urban centers,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, on Tuesday .
Videotron teams have laid nearly 8,500 km of fiber along a stretch of nearly 200,000 towers since April 2021.
In comparison, the 35,000 km of Videotron’s network was built over a period of around fifty years before operations began.
“Our teams have worked hard for several months, defying the sometimes difficult conditions on site and mastering numerous technical and logistical challenges with flying colors to achieve this result,” added Mr. Péladeau.
Residents are now asked to check the availability of Videotron services at their address and contact Videotron to arrange an appointment to install the services at their home.
