- Clinton claims Trump would “throw opponents in prison” if re-elected
- She claims the ‘debris’ to America would be ‘unimaginable’
- “Hitler was duly elected…” she says
Hillary Clinton made a direct comparison between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler as she claimed that a victory for the former president in 2024 would lead to “almost unimaginable ruin” for America.
She drew parallels between the way the Nazi leader became a dictator and Trump’s “dictatorial, authoritarian tendencies,” which she said would lead to the “end of our country as we know it.”
During an appearance on “The View,” Clinton accused Trump of wanting to jail his opponents and eliminate the free press if he takes back the White House.
Clinton lost to Trump when she was the Democratic presidential candidate in 2016 and was previously secretary of state.
Trump is currently the leading Republican candidate to run again in 2024.

Clinton said, “The wreckage is almost unimaginable.” You know, when I was Secretary of State, I used to talk about “won and done.” What I meant by that was that people would be legally elected and then try to abolish elections, opposition and free press.
“And you could see that in countries where – well, Hitler was duly elected – suddenly someone with these tendencies, these dictatorial, authoritarian tendencies was like, OK, we’ll finish this, we’ll do this.” Throw those people away into jail.
“And they didn’t usually telegraph that. Trump tells us what he plans to do. Take him at his word. “The man wants to jail people who disagree with him, shut down legitimate press outlets and do everything he can to literally undermine the rule of law and our country’s values.”

In 1932, Hitler lost the election for president, but his Nazi Party won the most seats in a separate parliamentary election. He was then appointed chancellor. He then became a dictator.

On The View, Clinton was asked what she thought would happen if Trump were re-elected.
She said, “Oh, I can’t even, I can’t even think about that because I think it would be the end of our country as we know it.” And I don’t say that lightly.
“You know, I hated losing, and I especially hated losing to him because I had seen so many warning signs during the campaign. But I immediately said we have to give him a chance. We have to, you know, support the president that we have. And I meant it. And I really tried hard.’
She added, “And then literally from his inauguration onward, it was all about accusing people of things, making up facts, denying the size of the crowd at his inauguration and everything that I was worried about, I saw.” “How it happened.”
“I think he would be even worse off now because, believe it or not, he was held back a bit in the first term by people he hired because he thought they would go along with him – and they defied him.”
Clinton said that if Trump were “ever near the Oval Office again,” he would find “people who have no principles, no conscience, who are literally completely tied to his fate and would therefore do what he did.” says.”
