At least that is the story that prosecutors presented last week during the investigation into Kevin-James Mondesir's release. The latter and his partner Marie Daniella Saincylus are particularly accused of robbery in connection with an incident in October.

The victim, a man in his 20s, then spent the evening at the Arabesque shisha bar in downtown Montreal. On the Snapchat app, he shows a photo of his wallet filled with a wad of cash. According to the complainant's version, several of his subscribers see this publication.

The victim showed off his money in a post on the Snapchat app just hours before he was caught by the couple.

That same evening, he browsed social networks for publications by an unknown woman. The latter is identified by prosecutors as Marie Daniella Saincylus, a 21-year-old Montrealer.

According to prosecutor Oliver Bérard-Riccardelli, the victim suggested that the suspect spend the rest of the evening at his home in Laval. Ms Saincylus initially refused, claiming she had come in her own car.

An ambush in front of his house

However, Marie Daniella Saincylus asked the young man to transfer her money for petrol. After receiving the money, she allegedly left the scene in a vehicle. She then went to the victim's house in the Sainte-Rose district of Laval.

A friend dropped him off, she allegedly explained, before getting into the complainant's car.

Since it was too late to buy alcohol, Ms. Saincylus suggested contacting “her plug,” a contact who could sell them drinks after midnight.

That's when a second suspect, identified by the Crown as Kevin-James Mondesir, allegedly stormed in and pointed a Glock pistol at the stunned young Laval resident. He orders the return of his personal belongings, according to the representation presented to Judge Frédéric Bénard by the public prosecutor's office.

“You want to die? Should I drag you?” the suspect is said to have said before hitting the young man's temple with the butt of his rifle.

Ms Saincylus allegedly started fidgeting with the victim's phone and Gucci bag, telling him to drop everything.

The young man the couple targeted was robbed of $10,000 cash, his luxury bag, his Airpods Pro headphones, his key ring and his phone.

The Laval Police Service (SPL) quickly located the two suspected bandits: Kevin-James Mondésir and Marie-Daniella Saincylus were arrested the day after the attack.
