In Siberia it’s getting colder! tonight at Tongulakh Minimum temperature is being explored -62.7℃, an incredible value that represents the new absolute cold record for this location. The Tongulakh weather station had already broken its all-time record twice in the past few days (the previous low was at -62.4°C on January 15), and this is the third time in a row, which testifies to how extraordinary the frost wave is hitting Siberia.
Tonight is also the lowest temperature ever recorded in Russia since February 2002 (21 years ago) and, as far as January is concerned, even since 1982 (41 years ago)! The latest model updates confirm that this vast ice lake will plummet southward over the next few days China, North Korea, South Korea and Japan for what promises to be a period of exceptional frost and snow for much of East Asia.
