Hit and Run Downtown: Young snowboarder dies in hospital

The young man on a skateboard hit by a driver who fled after the impactSadly, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital Sunday night in downtown Montreal.

The collision occurred at around 6:30 p.m. early Sunday evening at the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street East and De Lorimier Avenue in downtown Montreal.

According to authorities, the 21-year-old snowboarder was crossing De Lorimier Avenue when he was struck by the vehicle.

The driver fled, leaving the young man for dead.

His death was confirmed by Montreal police on Monday morning.

The investigation allowed police to locate the vehicle that may have been involved in the fatal crash on Monday night on Rue Sicard, very close to an entrance to the port of Montreal.

Investigators placed a tarp over the damaged front of the SUV to protect any clues.

The vehicle was then towed away for inspection.

In this case, no arrests have been made yet.
