The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) and PWHPA announced on Friday that the two groups’ activities will be merged into a single circuit from January 2024.
The Montreal Force, which has been part of the PHF since 2022, has not yet commented on the announcement or confirmed if they have been invited to join this new league.

In a press release, they announced their support for the project, funded by businessmen Mark and Kimbra Walter. They bought shares in PHF and negotiated with PWHPA for seven months.
The board of directors will consist of former tennis players Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss, as well as Los Angeles Dodgers President Stan Kasten.
“This new league will be unlike anything women’s hockey has ever seen,” said PWHPA commissioner and former Olympian Jayna Hefford. I’m inspired by this generation of players who are redefining the sport. We will create dreams and opportunities for girls and women around the world in the decades to come.”
Two PHF teams are based in Canada, the Force and the Toronto Six. Seven clubs form this circle, which was launched in 2015.
The PWHPA is a non-profit organization. Quebec’s Marie-Philip Poulin was the top scorer of the federation-organized championship in 2022–2023.
