As USA Today learned from two of the couple’s friends, the 29-year-old athlete purchased an engagement ring intended for his longtime girlfriend, Ryan Wolfe. In fact, the former National League player got his hands on the precious item before flying to Europe ahead of the current season.
The American newspaper added that Johnson’s girlfriend discovered the ring in her apartment in his absence after the player’s family spilled the beans.
