“I don’t tell anyone how to behave. But hopefully a bit of the way I work rubs off on people.
“By that I mean nothing to do with acting, just showing up on time, always ready and prepared, never being sick,” he says.
Ray has previously revealed that he never had children as he was so dedicated to his acting.

In a resurfaced interview with The Daily Telegraph, the soap star said he chose not to start a family because of the nature of his acting career.
“When I was younger as a freelance actor, I wondered if I could support myself let alone anyone else,” he said.
“It’s a fun old job, it’s very precarious, it’s a pretty seedy old job as far as employment goes.”

Ray is a stepfather to Rebecca, his wife Gilly’s daughter who is in her forties.
He said he likes to have breakfast or lunch with Rebecca every two weeks and talks to her at least once a week.
Ray was recently stunned after being nominated again for a Gold Logie at the age of 77.

One of the longest-serving actors in the industry, having appeared on every season of Home and Away since its inception in 1988, Ray thought his “golden days” were over after his last big win in 2010.
The star shocked the industry earlier this year when he beat a number of favorites including Rebecca Gibney and Rove McManus to win the grand prize.
Now he’s nominated for the top prize again and will be a hot prospect at the awards ceremony on June 19 on the Gold Coast alongside Sonia Kruger and Tom Gleeson.

Julia Morris and Hamish Blake will also fight for the gold statuette.
“It felt pretty good, but it was also a bit of a surprise,” Ray told TV Week of his nomination, which was announced on May 15.
“I kind of thought my golden days were over 12 years ago when I won it.
“I don’t see myself as some kind of nominee for Gold Logie. There are always enough people who deserve more.’
