A one-year-old homeless girl was tragically found dead near Los Angeles International Airport on Friday morning.
Emergency responders raced to a bus stop near the airport entrance shortly before 9:40 a.m. after reports of a “medical emergency,” said Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) spokesman Brian Humphrey.
She reportedly suffered cardiac arrest, but details of how the child died were not released by investigators.
The caller, whose relationship to the infant is unclear, attempted CPR until LAFD arrived, but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
She was reportedly homeless along with her mother and sister, who are now in the care of officers while her mother is questioned about the incident.

The child suffered cardiac arrest, and her mother, who was also homeless, reportedly admitted that she had given the child Benadryl the night before because she was being picky
Officers took the deceased girl's sister into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services while officers interviewed the mother
Although the tragic death remains under investigation, officials said they found “nothing nefarious” about the incident, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The girl's mother reportedly told KNX News that she was heartbroken over the loss but did not know how she died.
She said the child was fussy Thursday night, so she gave him a small amount of Benadryl.
The unnamed mother said she and her daughters had been homeless since June but she was afraid to seek help in case her children were taken away from her.
