Canada A 59yearold homeless man was attacked and stabbed to death by eight teenagers in Toronto, Canada. The perpetrators are 13, 14 and 16 years old. The identity of the victim, named Ken Lee, was confirmed Tuesday, March 10th.

The case happened on December 18th. According to Toronto police, the man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but did not resist. Shortly after the victim was admitted, the medical unit declared death.

The company said it was called to an attack on University Avenue at the time. The girls are charged with seconddegree murder.

The man’s relatives admit they don’t know exactly how the attacks took place, but received information that he was protecting a friend who was the real target. Now the relatives are crowdfunding to cover the funeral costs.

“Ken Lee was a beloved son, brother and uncle. It was his birthday last week. He was a kind soul. He helped everyone in need, whether it was a close friend or just an acquaintance,” recalled Sister Helen Shum.

“It devastated our family and completely broke his mother’s heart. A mother should never have to bury her child.”

Helen also spoke about the reasons her brother was homeless. “He was unlucky and left home determined to get his life back on track. We made sure he knew we were always there for him and hoped he would come home. He wanted to solve his problems independently and we understand and respect your wishes.”

So far, the crowdfunding has more than 500 donations, but it’s still a long way from reaching the $50,000 goal. On behalf of the family, the sister “thanked everyone for their love and support” and made a request. “Ken died a hero and we ask that you help us give him the funeral he deserves [custear] any legal fees that may be incurred,” he said.
