According to the Ministry of Health (Sesal), the Central American country ended last year with 56 percent fewer dengue cases compared to 2021.
Along those lines, Raúl Barahona, dengue epidemiological surveillance coordinator here, said the country plans to implement new vector control measures this year, reported Channel 8, which is linked to the government.
“We will conduct new studies to be able to change some guidelines and we will communicate in the coming weeks what new options we are looking at as a department of health in the field of dengue,” he added.
According to the government official, the regions with the most cases of the disease are: Atlántida (North), Colón (North), Cortés (Northwest), Central District, Choluteca (South), El Paraíso (South), Olancho (Central-South) and Yoro ( North).
Official data from Sesal registers nine dengue deaths in the country through December, while confirmed cases with the disease top 25,000.
