Horrified, plane passengers left a barefoot man with his toes extended (six!) in flight

  • A TikTok video showing a passenger on a flight with his feet outstretched has gone viral
  • If you take a closer look, you can see that the passenger actually has six toes
  • The video has over eight million views and thousands of hilarious comments

Although it can be tempting to remove your shoes and socks during a long-haul flight, doing so is generally considered a serious violation of airplane etiquette.

Additionally, the floors on airplanes are extremely dirty and sometimes even covered in bodily fluids, so it really isn’t worth the risk.

And a traveler drew the ire of his fellow passengers by taking off his socks on a flight, according to a viral TikTok video.

At first glance, the video looks like any other clip of these incidents, but if you look closer, you’ll see that the passenger in question actually has six toes.

He has what looks like a “double pinky toe” that can be seen when the person who posted the video zooms in, and commenters from around the world are amazed.

The video has a whopping 8.1 million views and over 14,000 comments, most of which poke fun at the unusual clip and reignite the debate about whether it’s acceptable to go barefoot in public.

After zooming in on their fellow jetsetter’s foot, the camera pans out the window as the plane takes off.

One commenter joked, “Flying from Toronto,” while another added, “You know he doesn’t have toe deficiency.”

The top comment, with over 40,000 likes, simply reads, “I’ll tell you straight away…” with laughing emojis.

It alludes to a video that went viral earlier this year in which American Airlines passenger Tiffany Gomez exhibited erratic behavior on her flight and claimed she saw something that wasn’t real: “I’m telling you right now – this one Crap.” **is NOT real back there”.

The commenter essentially jokes that she saw the double toe, to which another commenter replied, “Brilliant.” But yeah, I’d get off the plane for that.

Another said: “You win.” “Here’s your trophy” and a separate comment said: “That’s what the plane lady was talking about.”

Someone else said they were “so focused on the hair” that they “almost missed the twins.”

What is Polydactyly?

Polydactyly is a birth defect that occurs when a person is born with extra fingers or toes. Around one in 700 to 1,000 births worldwide are affected.

In the sixth or seventh week of pregnancy, the fetus’s “paddle hands and feet” divide into fingers and toes. Polydactyly occurs when the “paddle” divides too often.

The additional digits can range from a nub to a full, functioning finger or toe.

Most often the finger or toe is smaller than the other fingers and poorly formed. When fully formed, it contains all normal bones, blood vessels, and nerves.

Polydactyly is thought to occur randomly, but may have a genetic component or be related to an underlying medical condition. The condition is usually detected during an ultrasound scan.

Surgery to remove the extra fingers usually occurs when a child is one or two years old. This should leave them with a hand or foot that functions and looks normal.

As the banter continued, an onlooker joked that the passenger “just crossed them to get lucky on the flight.”

With a crying emoji, someone said: “No but why does he let it air out like that?”, and another agreed: “Taking off shoes AND socks is crazy.”

One commenter felt sorry for the man in the video, writing: “The only time I can take my shoes off on a plane, it hurts when I keep rubbing my top, poor guy.”

Another agreed, adding: “Okay, to be fair, it’s probably so uncomfortable to wear shoes but man… bring some slippers or something.” NO ONE should have dogs on a plane.
