Terrifying moment as a hot air balloon lands on Melbourne’s busiest beach and collides with a sign as it touches down

Onlookers were stunned when a hot air balloon made an emergency landing in a beachside suburb of Melbourne on Wednesday morning.
Early in the morning, hikers watched as the balloon navigated through buildings, glided down a main road and crashed into a street sign around 7.30am.
The video shows the balloon then gently landing on St Kilda beach.
A witness shared the video on Instagram, calling it “close to St Kilda” – viewers praising the pilot’s “great effort” in landing it.

The incident follows another hot air balloon which was forced to make an emergency landing at a local park in Melbourne’s Ascot Vale last Friday.
The spate of emergency landings caused some to wonder what happened to hot air balloons, with “So many incidents [happening] lately’.
