There was a lot of drama behind the scenes of Farmer Wants a Wife this week.
Brenton, 26, a sheep and cattle farmer, revealed his mother refused to show her face on camera during the family visits, which were broadcast on Monday.
The episode introduced viewers to Brenton’s father and sisters as they decided which of his contestants should win a 24-hour date with him.
Brenton said things got “pretty heated” when his mother refused to join in because she didn’t want to hook up with a woman just for her son to break her heart.
“I mean, you really want your family to get along with the girls,” he told 7Entertainment.

Speaking about his mother’s decision not to appear on television, he said: “[My family] never stood in front of a camera.
“And mom didn’t want to have a camera with her because she didn’t want to get to know the other two ladies and then choose and never see them again.
“So she decided not to show her face [at all].’

Meanwhile, drama ensued at Farmer Matt’s farm as both Chelsea and Annabelle broke down in tears when his family came to an intimate luncheon to meet them.
Chelsea, 22, broke down in tears from stress as Matt’s father David comforted her.
During the episode, Brenton’s family decided to send fan favorite Sophie on an exclusive 24-hour date with Brenton

Shortly thereafter, Annabelle also turned on the waterworks and escaped to her bedroom after a stressful dinner with Matt’s parents.
Matt, 23, soon came to comfort her and ask what was going on.
“I think it’s just the heat. Like I felt really weird sitting out there and I feel really bad,” she began, before tearfully admitting she was “struggling.”
