Many Quebecers use the school holidays to travel to our neighbors to the south. As of 11 a.m., the U.S. Customs website said the wait time at the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle post office for travelers was 100 minutes.

In fact, the waiting time is longer than stated. “I am on the way to customs with my family. Based on my estimate on Google Maps, we were about a third of the way there and were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. It looks like we’re spending the day here,” says Isabelle Hébert.
Five routes are currently open for travel to the United States. Only two were in office earlier in the day.
“We have been standing in line for two hours and are still far from customs,” says Fouzia Ali-Haimoud. Several families also told La Presse that they had waited more than three hours to cross the border.

At the St-Armand/Philipsburg station, which connects the towns of Philipsburg, Quebec, with Highgate Springs, Vermont, the delay was shorter, with a wait of 45 minutes. The quickest way into the United States is through customs at Stanstead in Estrie without having to wait.
