A house was put up for sale in the United States for $800,000, about R$3.7 million, but accompanied by a curious fact: the buyer had to take other residents of the basement as a gift. The property, located in the city of Fairfax, Virginia, USA, was advertised on a for sale website and the bizarre condition went viral on the internet.

The home has an area of 3,548 square feet, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and has the appearance of a traditional colonial home. Almost normal, except for the fact that it has a quirk hidden in the basement.

The sale announcement stated that offers must be made in cash and with no access to the lower floor. “House is being sold as is… Passed on with the knowledge that some people live in the basement without renting.”

The property came online after being advertised on a site called Zillow Gone Wild, which has some unusual real estate listings. The post had 35,000 likes and thousands of comments. One netizen commented, “800,000 for five bedrooms, four bathrooms and your own serial killer.” Another joked, “Next season of ‘Mystery Tenant’ on Netflix…”.

The house was sold on April 10th. Even after the backlash, the house was gone from the real estate market just a week after the announcement. A real estate agent told Fox the house had received five offers and it was purchased at a slightly higher price than the asking price.

Journalist David Kaplan discovered that the occupants of the forbidden floor of the property are a mother and a daughter. However, the connection between the residents and the seller of the house is not known.

The information comes from Fox 5.
