Now that filming for House of The Dragon Season 2 has officially begun, the news of the production is starting to flow. When casting, we notice the absence of an actor whose character was quite important in the first season.

HoTD: Season 2 is getting clearer

The first season of the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, which aired last year, won over a large audience. Focusing on the Targaryen family and their reign prior to the era portrayed in the main series, House of The Dragon is a successful offering in the contemporary television landscape that is sorely lacking in ambitious genre productions.

Logically, fans are now eagerly awaiting Season 2, who just started filming. The Dance of the Dragons will officially begin, but before that we’ll have to wait a bit. In the meantime, we learn new information about this season. Aside from the script-justified departures, it seems obvious that the entire cast didn’t return for the rest of the story.

An actor is missing

If we take a closer look at the cast of this new season, which has already been shared, we find that an actor who played an important role during the first few episodes is missing. In fact, theScottish actor Graham McTavish, who previously played the role of Ser Harrold Westerling (Harrold Ouestrelin in French), is missing.

This absence is all the more odd given that we know the screenwriters had just given the character a more prominent place compared to the role he plays in George RR Martin’s writings. So far, HBO has not commented on this alleged departure. The noble and just Lord Commander of the Royal Guard, Ser Harrold Westerling embodied the essence of chivalry, a character whose loyalty to his king was firmly entrenched. At the moment it’s impossible to know what happened to him between the two seasons. It’s also possible that the role will be smaller this Season 2, which might explain the lack of mention of Graham McTavish in the casting.
