Text description of the architects. Ph Superí is located in the city of Buenos Aires on the border of the districts of Coghlan and Saavedra. It is a sparsely populated area four blocks from Saavedra Park, between Avenidas Crámer and Balbín.

The project deals with the intervention of a house of the ph type, a typical typology of Buenos Aires, inherited from the “Casa Chorizo” of the early 20th century, where different housing units are located on the same plot. The distinctive feature of the unit is its city-front location, which allows for ventilation and lighting to the street as well as to the interior of the block.

The existing house had a series of watertight rooms: hallway, living-dining room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, around a patio. The project includes the conversion of the existing house and an extension of the terrace on the ground floor.

The original structure of load-bearing walls and room dividers is replaced by an independent system of reinforced concrete columns and beams that organizes access, living-dining room, kitchen and services in close relation to the patio. The new open and flexible space configuration dematerialized the inside-outside boundary and showed the plasticity and texture of the material.

The expansion and growth on the ground floor are supported by the existing partitions and the partition between the functional units, opening up for the best orientation. The program includes a bedroom overlooking the street, an open study with the possibility of a second bedroom, a bathroom and a terrace. The staircase, maintaining the original position, articulates both levels.

Growth occurs with the same structural logic. The top panel is the ceiling and the inverted joists allow for the incorporation of a green roof that acts as thermal insulation and rainwater retention. At the same time, it integrates a new high-rise garden with sweeping views of the low-rise neighborhood.
