Sanaa (Yemen), January 25 (EFE/EPA). – (Image: Yahya Arhab) Members of tribes loyal to the Houthis demonstrated today on the outskirts of Sanaa, Yemen, against the United States and Israel. Yemeni Houthis have claimed responsibility for a missile attack on US-flagged commercial and military vessels in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Yemen, according to a statement from Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea. The Houthis have vowed to continue attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, aiming to end Israel's bombardment of the Gaza Strip and in response to US-led retaliatory strikes. On January 17, the US State Department announced the designation of Yemen's Houthis as a “specially designated global terrorist group” as their attacks on shipping lanes in the Red Sea, the Bab al Strait and Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden escalated in November 2023.
