How did Jean Ferrari become director of the Universitario after completing his football career?
Before joining the Universitario de Deportes as director, Jean Ferrari headed the National Leisure Directorate of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD). He took on this responsibility in 2017. He was then elected the new sports manager of the “U” in August 2019.
In October of the same year, in an interview with Correo, Ferrari revealed the reason why he took up the position in the top team. “Working with an institution that gave me everything was an open topic in my professional life. As a footballer I was able to defend the ‘U’ and that was crucial for my career. Now I had the opportunity to change the club.” “I didn’t hesitate for a second,” said the former footballer.

However, he was forced to leave the institution in February 2020 after Gremco regained control of the club. It was only in August 2021 that Jean Ferrari returned to the “U” after being appointed interim administrator of the institution by the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT). He has held this position ever since university.

Football career of Jean Ferrari, administrator of the Universitario de Deportes
Ferrari was born in Callao in 1975 and played at the Universitario de Deportes from a young age. In 1993 he joined the Deportivo San Agustín club. Two years later he returned to the “U” and stayed with the club until 1998.
Thanks to his good performances on the field, he made it abroad. He defended the jersey of Atlético Jorge Newbery of Argentina. He only spent one year in this squad before moving to Spain to play for CF Extremadura.
After his time in Europe, Jean Ferrari returned to Peru to play for Sporting Cristal and Cienciano. Then, in 2002, he left the country to join England’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He later returned to the national territory and played in various teams in the local tournament, such as Sport Boys or Deportivo Municipal. His last experience abroad was with América de Cali in 2003. In 2011 he retired in León de Huánuco.
