Much has been written about the ostensible results of the latest UN climate conference in the week and a half since it ended: the “shift away” from fossil fuels has been written into an official outcome document for the first time, and there are plans to double energy efficiency and triple share of renewable energy by 2030 and so on.
Fine. Everything was beautifully phrased and written on patient paper. There was even talk of the 1.5 degree target during the gigantic conference, although everyone already knows that this is history. Just a great conference. It has to be, but as we know from the past, everyday life often looks a little different.
