Yesterday they were workers, artisans or artists. Today, rifle in hand, they defend the entrances to the city. “We are in territorial defense, and we live nearby. Patients are pouring into the city’s largest children’s hospital. Families and caregivers line up, waiting to be evacuated. Most of the patients will go to Lviv, on the border with Poland. A four-month-old baby, very premature, needs to go to intensive care. In another room, three teenagers are recovering from severe injuries. On Saturday, March 5, they set off to leave Kyiv terrorized by the war. A rocket landed next to them. Doctors have been in the hospital 24 hours a day since the beginning of the war.
