Who can resist a sandwich – especially when it’s free?
November 3rd marks National Sandwich Day (yes, that’s a thing). That means it’s time to shine a spotlight on humble food, which is probably most treasured by kids, parents and working professionals because it’s a quick and easy way to stuff your tummy.
The origin of the sandwich goes back centuries. It was popularized in 17th-century England by John Montagu, fourth Earl of Sandwich, who ordered sliced beef between slices of bread so he could eat while continuing to play cards.
Around 260 years later, the handy food is consumed all over the world and honored with its own day in America.
But while National Sandwich Day is still not a real holiday, many restaurant chains are throwing out deals and freebies on sandwich orders.
Subway: Customers who purchase a foot-length sub can get it for free using promo code FLBOGO on Subway.com or the Subway app.
And if you’re going to be in the air today, Subway is giving away 10,000 foot Subway-series submarines to travelers who sit in the middle seat as part of a new sweepstakes.
Popeyes: Buy a chicken sandwich combo (classic or spicy) and get a second sandwich for free through the chain’s app or website. Offer valid for mobile order pickups and deliveries only.
Panera Bread: The chain is giving new and existing MyPanera members $1 off any sandwich. This offer is only available for in-app purchases.
Jersey Mike’s Sub: Customers can have their sandwich order delivered for free via the app. The offer runs from Thursday to November 7th.
McAlister’s Deli: The restaurant chain is offering a “buy one, get a free sandwich” sandwich promotion for its rewards program members today.
