How to save space in laundry: Shopper mounts $79 Kmart clothesline on wall

An Australian mum has modified a popular Kmart item to create a built-in clothesline for “rainy days”.

Leanne shared a series of pictures on Facebook and decided to wall mount the $79 deluxe laundry air station in her laundry room to save space.

The Kmart product comes with a wooden frame, four wheels and five racks – but the size of the product would take up quite a bit of space.

Instead, Leanne split the tumble dryer down the middle to wall mount the racks, which simply fold away for added convenience.

After sharing pictures on Facebook, other shoppers seemed eager to emulate the simple DIY. When folded, the shelves also serve as towel holders.

More than 3400 people have “liked” the social media post.

‘Omg! I have one of these currently set up outside as usual but I really want to do this,” one woman commented.

“I’ll do this when I get back to my house, fantastic idea,” said another, while a third added, “Love it! To need!’

Others described the hack as “brilliant,” “brilliant,” and “so smart.”

The idea is ideal for those who have limited laundry space – however, renters should check with their landlord first before screwing holes in the laundry room wall.

Last month, shoppers became obsessed with a new “life-changing” laundry appliance that retracts into the ceiling when not in use.

An Australian ordered a Victorian-style ceiling-mounted drying rack in England and says she’s “in love” with the handy device.

Moms spotted the nifty tool on a woman’s Facebook page, but at a whopping $141 plus $148 shipping, it’s not the most budget-friendly purchase.

Last month, another Australian shared a post online about her imported ceiling-mounted drying rack and other shoppers are obsessing (pictured).

The DIYer got the idea to buy the IronmongeryWorld tool on Etsy from a friend who lives in the UK and owns a ceiling dryer.

“I’m a little bit in love with my new drying rack,” she wrote, sharing a picture of the pulley on the popular Facebook page.

“You lower it with the pulley rope on the wall near the dryer. It depends on the level of the bank. Then when the laundry is on it, lift it up so it’s out of the way,” she said.

Many homeowners with small washrooms loved the idea.

“This is genius. I have very high ceilings with a small laundry room. It would absolutely work in my wash,” said one woman.

“I love the design. Looks really good and practical,” commented another.

“This is what I need,” wrote another.

“I have the same one, love it,” said another woman, sharing a picture of her own clothes dryer.

The product has excellent reviews and a full five star rating on Etsy.

A happy mother found a similar device at Bunnings Special Order Desk 10 years ago which she still uses “everyday” but it is no longer sold in Bunnings.

If the imported unit is out of your price range but you are looking for a space saving drying rack, you can find wall mounted accordion stands online, e.g. B. at Amazon for 60 US dollars.

Australian company Botanex also makes a pulley similar to the clever Etsy gadget for $289.

Top tips to get your laundry drying faster without a dryer:

* Put your washing machine on a spin cycle after washing to reduce moisture in clothes and the time required to dry items

* To ensure wet laundry dries faster in the winter months, place your rack in front of the heater and use a large piece of clothing on one side of the rack to retain heat

An Australian mum shared a trick to drying laundry faster. She places the rack sideways in front of the heater and blocks the other end with a larger piece that seals in the heat
