New Delhi:
The creators of the highly anticipated Vikram Vedha film released a statement on Monday, clarifying that the film was shot extensively in India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, and that the film’s “creative talent” – namely the actors – are there no decision-making powers over production and budget. Reliance Entertainment, the film’s co-producers, also confirmed that part of the film was shot in Abu Dhabi, stating that it is the only available location providing the infrastructure for a biobubble at this time. The statement came after multiple reports claiming Vikram Vedha star Hrithik Roshan refused to film in Uttar Pradesh and urged the creators to film in Dubai instead.
Reliance Entertainment’s statement described the reports as “misleading and entirely unfounded” and confirmed that much of the Vikram Vedha was filmed in India and that Lucknow, located in Uttar Pradesh, was among the locations. The statement called attempts to “twist” the facts “impish and untrue.” The statement also clarified that suggestions from actors are welcome, but “the production and budget decisions are a centralized prerogative.”
The statement, shared by Reliance Entertainment on Twitter, read: “We have noticed many misleading and totally unfounded reports about Vikram Vedha filming locations. The film was shot in the United Arab Emirates from October to November 2021 as this was the only location where a infrastructure was provided for a biobubble that housed a crew of this magnitude and also allowed the building of sets in a studio in the previous months. We chose to do this for health and protocol reasons. Any attempt to twist these facts is clearly mischievous and untrue. Additionally, at Reliance Entertainment we would like to emphasize that while we welcome input from creative talent, the production and budget decisions are a centralized prerogative.”

Vikram Vedha is a Hindi remake of the 2017 Tamil neo-noir action thriller of the same name, also written and directed by Pushkar-Gayathri. The film, which was a success at the box office and received rave reviews from critics, starred Madhavan and Vijay Setupathi.
