Last year, Hugh announced he had split from his long-term wife Deborra-Lee Furness in September – after 27 years of marriage.
The former couple revealed to fans that they split up “to further our individual development.”
“We were fortunate to spend almost three decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage. “Our journey is now changing and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the couple said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
“Our family has always been and continues to be our highest priority.” We approach this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness. We thank you very much for your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition.”
The former couple signed the statement “Deb and Hugh Jackman” and added: “This is the only statement either of us will make.”
The couple tied the knot in 1996 after crossing paths on the set of Correlli in 1995.
Over the course of their marriage, they adopted two children: son Oscar, 23, and daughter Ava, 18.
Last month, rumors swirled that Deborra-Lee might leave her home in New York to return to Australia – where Hugh is from.

There is growing speculation that Deborra-Lee (pictured) could return to Australia soon after her split from Hugh
According to Woman's Day, Deb's friends have informed her that she should move Down Under after her marriage ends.
It's unclear whether Furness is listening to her friends, but she spent time in Sydney in recent weeks promoting her new film Force of Nature: The Dry 2 and attending the Australian Open.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee bought a $21 million home in New York City last year before their surprise split.
The X-Men actor and actress invested the money for a penthouse in New York's Chelsea neighborhood in August 2022.
The purchase comes just weeks after the actor couple put their incredible three-story condo in New York City up for sale.
The couple had lived in the chic downtown Manhattan apartment since 2008 and put it up for sale in June 2022 for the whopping price of $38.9 million.
