Some hikers found “human remains” in the Mount Baldy desert of Southern California, a mountainous region where English actor Julian Sands – known for his appearances in films such as Naked Lunch (1991) and A Room With a View (1985)– according to the authorities.
“Around 10:00 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023, civilian hikers contacted the Fontana Sheriff’s Station after discovering human remains in the desert on Mt. Baldy (…) The deceased was taken to the Coroner’s Office, pending an identification that should be completed next week,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
Sands disappeared January 13 after hiking alone in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains, about 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Los Angeles, and was wanted by drones and helicopters due to avalanche danger and dangerous trail conditions the actor prevented them from finding land.
Sands was born on January 4, 1958 in Otley, West Yorkshire (England) and moved to California in the 1980s. His last residence was in North Hollywood.
His career was marked by film and television projects. His notable works include the film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2011), Jackie Chan’s action comedy “The Medallion” (2003), as well as his participation in series such as “Smallville” or “The L Word”.
