Hungary continues to oppose an EU oil embargo on Russia. The Hungarian Foreign Minister justified this with the effects of an import ban on the Hungarian economy.

Hungarian Foreign Minister: Oil embargo would destroy Hungarian economy
If the European Union stops imports of Russian oil, it will destroy the Hungarian economy, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday. He criticized the EU Commission for not offering solutions to deal with this problem. In a video posted on Facebook, Szijjarto said it would only work if pipeline imports were exempted from the embargo.
France expects quick deal on oil embargo
In the European Union, Hungary is the harshest critic of the planned Russian oil embargo. After talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Monday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke of progress. On Tuesday, France was confident that, in the tug of war over the new sanctions package against Russia, a deal could be reached this week.
