‘Hungry’: Ariel Winter to Replace Demi Lovato –

Hungry on NBC has already found a new main character: Modern Family star Ariel Winter will replace Demi Lovato in the upcoming multi-camera comedy pilot, according to our sister site Deadline.

Just Friday, it was reported that Lovato had to be released from the lead role due to a scheduling conflict. However, they will remain on board as executive producers along with Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner, Scooter Braun, Scott Manson and James Sheen.

Written by Suzanne Martin (“Hot in Cleveland”), “Hungry” follows a group of friends who join a nutritional support group and help each other in their search for love, success, and the perfect thing in the fridge that will make everything better. The cast also includes Hot in Cleveland alumni Valerie Bertinelli, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias (Mr. Iglesias), Ryan McPartlin (Chuck), Anna Akana (A Million Little Things), and Ashley D. Kelly (Insatiable).

The comedy first received a pilot commitment from NBC back in January 2021, followed by an official pilot order in April, but the series was ultimately not ordered that year. The pilot has since been revamped as a multi-camera comedy instead of a single-camera and is still being considered for the 2022–2023 television season. Winter’s recent television work includes a guest spot on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and voice acting for animated series such as Robot Chicken and Elena of Avalor.
