Hunter's lonely vacation: First son meets his wife and lawyer in California while Biden family travels to St. Croix to ring in the New Year

Hunter Biden missed his family's tropical vacation, staying in California over the holidays and meeting with his lawyer amid mounting legal troubles.

First Son, 53, is in the Golden State at a time when he is facing a series of tax charges in California for failing to pay more than $1.4 million to the Internal Revenue Service.

While Hunter faces additional charges, including lying about his crack cocaine addiction while purchasing a gun, he was seen visiting the home of his attorney, Kevin Morris, on Wednesday.

However, the troubled businessman appeared to find time to relax as he enjoyed lunch with his wife, documentary filmmaker and activist Melissa Cohen.

Hunter moved out of California while other members of the First Family fled Washington to the Caribbean island of St. Croix.

It is unclear why Hunter remained in the United States when his family left for the Virgin Islands, as the 53-year-old may avoid leaving the United States due to his legal issues.

On Wednesday, President Biden was seen exiting Air Force One on Wednesday afternoon with the first lady and his 19-year-old granddaughter Natalie, the daughter of her late son Beau.

The family is also expected to live rent-free in the home of major Democratic donors Bill and Connie Neville, who made their fortune in the technology industry and attended the White House state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

As Biden takes a break from a politically turbulent year, Hunter and Cohen were spotted having lunch together in their home states.

The couple, who met in 2019 and tied the knot after knowing each other for just six days, dined at Cholada Thai Beach Restaurant for almost an hour.

Wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap for a low-key look, while his wife wore a gray sweater, Hunter was seen being led away from the restaurant by Secret Service in a large black SUV.

Earlier in the day, Hunter visited his lawyer's home in California, where Morris was seen in exclusive pictures smoking a bong from his balcony while Hunter was in attendance earlier this year.

Morris is known as Hunter's “sugar brother” and is said to have paid off $2.8 million of the firstborn's tax debts on his behalf.

Morris, 60, was a Hollywood lawyer known for leading a prestigious law firm that took on some of the industry's most high-profile cases and clients.

He famously negotiated two contracts worth a total of $1.4 billion for the makers of the satirical animated film South Park, whom he met at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival.

Their friendship blossomed and he later won a Tony Award as producer of her blockbuster musical The Book of Mormon.

Throughout his career, Morris has represented various Hollywood elites, including Courtney Cox and Mathew McConaughey, as well as TV executive Doug Herzog and producer Tom Lassally.

“I don’t have a huge need for lawyers,” Cox told Variety during a launch party for one of the legal books in 2014, “but when I do, I turn to Kevin.”

Morris also allegedly tried secret tricks to extract information from Hunter's enemies.

The lawyer was accused of lying to get onto the set of “My Son Hunter,” a film intended to portray Biden in the worst possible light with stories about his drug use, partying and allegedly corrupt business deals.
