“They have a membership and they want to be there to see what’s going to happen and everything. It’s certain they’re parking garages, so it’s like a deck of cards,” says TVA Nouvelles Marie-Josée Leclerc, who owns a home in the center of the state.

She’s also worried about one of her neighbors who chose to stay in her trailer during the hurricane.

“I have a heavy heart for the people that are there, but when I think about all of this, it sure hurts,” she says.

Some, like Ms. Cedilot, are following the development of the storm with a surveillance camera.

“In an hour, I’d say for those who know a bit about the Naples Pier, it’s about twenty feet of water. It’s overflowing, it’s in the restaurants, it’s overflowing. There are places in Naples where it’s really flooded,” she says.

She doesn’t know if her RV, which withstood three hurricanes, will survive this time.

“We have no news. We keep our fingers crossed. We have insurance, we can’t do anything. We are waiting. But I think it’s worse than Irma,” she said.
