Husker Football is signed by Alabama defenseman Stephon Wynn Football

The Nebraska football team has made another significant addition in a great emergency.

Stephon Wynn, defender for the Alabama transfer, announced Sunday that he is joining the Huskers in a 35-second video featuring former blackshirts Ndamukong Suh and Grant Wistrom, among others.

The 6-foot-4, 307-pound Wynn, who spent four years in a stacked defensive line room in Alabama, will have two more seasons with the Huskers.

Wynn, a four-star nominee from the IMG Academy in 2018, never saw big playing time with the Crimson Tide thanks to the ridiculous depth Alabama stacks at the position each season.

In 2021, Wynn appeared in seven games, recording five tackles and a quarterback rush.

Nebraska is now two above the NCAA-mandated 85 scholarship limit for 2022 and will need to shuffle some rosters to get Williams fit. However, with a full summer ahead of us, there is still plenty of time to ensure there may be room for Williams and other potential transfers joining the scheme.

Wynn’s signing comes exactly a week after his former Alabama teammate, defenseman Kaine Williams, joined the Huskers.

Both players were in Nebraska for official visits last weekend.

Wynn is the third Power Conference defenseman to join Nebraska this offseason after Texas Tech’s Devin Drew and TCU’s Ochaun Mathis selected the Huskers.

Nebraska was in dire need of depth thanks to several losses, including Damion Daniels pursuing a pro career, Ben Stille having used up his playing eligibility and Deontre Thomas moving out of football, and the transfers of Casey Rogers and Jordon Riley to Oregon.

Nebraska has now added 14 transfers to its roster this offseason.
