In 2001, Céline Dion and Garou performed “Sous le vent” together, a title that defined several generations. In this duo, a great bond developed between the two Canadian artists. Unfortunately, the singer, who recently opened up about his love life, distanced himself from Jacques Dion’s sister shortly after the single’s release. A strange take that had fascinated many fans. It was only in April 2022 that the interpreter of “Demande au soleil” returned in the program “En aparté” broadcast on Canal+ to mark the end of his beautiful friendship with the one who had contracted stiff man syndrome. “We were very close to Céline, that’s true. I don’t think she understood when I cut off contact,” he confessed.
Garou looks back on his friendship with Celine Dion: “I was almost the one who cut the cord.”
Sitting comfortably on journalist Nathalie Levy’s sofa, Garou expressed regret over his relationship with the singer. Looking back, the artist even had the feeling that he had “betrayed something”. “When I watched the clip for ‘Sous le vent’ again, I saw a nice, very representative analogy (…). She wanted to take me really high, and then, at one point, it was almost me who cut the cord to let me float,” he recalled, before adding, “I wanted to go down more than up. I didn’t want to be everywhere on the planet. There was a limit, I couldn’t, I didn’t want to go higher, not out of fear, but I said to myself, ‘When you fly above the clouds, there are times when it feels the same.'”

Garou talks about his relationship with Celine Dion: “Every time we meet…”
Despite everything, Céline Dion and Garou seem to have maintained a very warm relationship. This is proven by the 51-year-old singer’s revelations at Nathalie Lvy’s microphone. “Every time we meet it is magical, a lot of things happen in our eyes. There was all this complicity, a real connection,” he explained in the same interview. And to end with tenderness: “We did the same job, we were two little diamonds in the rough from Quebec, she tried to understand my vision and I tried to understand hers, so we had a unique bond.”
