I live in the Emily in Paris building and it’s not as glamorous as people think it is – my door is broken and my neighbors hate the show

A woman who lives in the building occupied by Emily in Paris has revealed it’s not what it says it is.

Andrada, an expat living in the French capital, rents an apartment in the building made famous by the Netflix show starring Lilly Collins as Emily, a chic Chicago girl who ends up living and romanticizing in Paris became.

Many fans of the show have raved about Emily’s neighborhood in central Paris and have made it a habit to visit the place on trips to the city of life.

But Andrada has revealed on TikTok that life in the building is actually not as glamorous as the romantic comedy might suggest.

Instead of the lavish expat life Emily enjoys, Andrada must contend with a broken door and passive-aggressive neighbors who have made it their mission to evict any tourists who try to enter the building.

Andrada shared a video of her coming home to her stubborn door every night.

In the hilarious clip, which was filmed over several days – and in glamorous outfits at that – she can be seen struggling against her door and growing increasingly frustrated.

“The reality of life in the Emily in Paris building: dealing with a broken door every day of the week,” she captioned the video.

In a comment she later revealed that the landlord of the apartment had to replace the door shortly after the start of shooting because it completely stopped working.

Her door isn’t the only aspect of the apartment Andrada doesn’t enjoy. Since the release of Emily in Paris, several fans have stared at the building, upsetting its residents and neighbors.

The tenant said she was harassed up to four times by neighbors who suspected she was a fan of the series and snuck around the apartment to take a picture.

“Residents are guarding the Emily in Paris building as if it were a national monument because this is the fourth time this has happened,” she said on TikTok.

“The neighborhood watch is on duty,” she added. The Parisian shared in a video how one night as she was taking out her bins, a neighbor followed her with questions.

She said the man didn’t believe her when she told him she lived in the building and kept asking her the name of her landlord.

She said the nosy neighbor asked her if she was “here for Emily” and asked her friends the same question when they were visiting.

Andrada panicked and said to him, “Here are my keys. Do you want to go upstairs and see if I can open the door?”

Only when she told him where she was from did the man change his behavior and become friendly.

She said he told her, “I’m sorry.” “There are so many people coming into the building and I never know who’s who and it really pisses me off and I’m sorry for being aggressive. “

But his excuses didn’t please the tenant, who said on her TikTok, “If I tell you seven times in a row that I live here, I’ll tell you the names of my neighbors, I’ll tell you the floor I have.” , I’ll show you my keys, and you call me a liar for telling you the other landlord’s name?”

She also revealed to her followers that she believes the neighbor was the one who wrote “Emily Not Welcome” in red paint on the building’s door to warn tourists not to come.
