The initiative comes from the UK, where Laura Young, 38, was inspired by a podcast in which a man said he makes a living assembling furniture for others.

James then makes himself available to set up televisions, rebuild walls, put up curtains, and do other housekeeping jobs at the expense of 40 pounds an hour.

There is no shortage of men among the customers, but requests come mainly from single women who need expert hands for DIY, assembly and other tasks that would otherwise require the labor of a technician at a higher cost.

The success of the initiative

In a matter of hours, James received his first assignment before finding himself with itbusy agenda from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

For this new job, the man had to give up his job as a warehouse worker. While James takes care of the hands-on side of the job, Laura manages the social accounts she uses to communicate with clients and manage inquiries.

Speaking to The Mirror, Laura Young said: “I never expected it to take off like that. We got to the point where we had so much work to do that James was working six days a week. We had to start reject jobs and reduce our working hours, so now we do it Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
