A Florida woman who was struck by lightning while walking her dog hours before attending a Beyoncé concert considers herself “very lucky” to have survived her mishap because she had time to “die” before returning to school was brought to life.
More than a month after her brush with death, Rebecca Soto, still recovering physically from her accident, was able to return to work this week. However, the latter developed a fear of lightning.
“It’s crazy when you think about it,” she admitted during an interview with ClickOrlando. I thought I was going to die. It’s heavy to carry. »
Rebecca Soto spent the day of August 15 trying on clothes and getting a manicure for a Beyoncé concert that was scheduled to take place in Tampa Bay the following day.
A little later, the woman went for a walk with her dog and a few minutes later the tragedy occurred.
Lauro Soto, her husband, heard deafening thunder. He rushed outside and found his wife lying face down and unconscious.
“By the time the ambulance picked her up, her heart had stopped and she was no longer breathing,” he said.
He explained that paramedics “brought her back” using a defibrillator.
Rebecca Soto spent more than a week in the hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Despite burns and memory loss, his recovery was miraculous.
“I return to the world grateful. I’m very lucky to be where I am today in my recovery,” she says.
The couple said the mishap gave them a new perspective on life. He enjoys the little moments of happiness in everyday life much more, such as eating together, playing outside with the dog, listening to TV or laughing together.
“I no longer take these moments for granted,” said Lauro Soto.
Rebecca Soto has only one regret: she won’t be able to see her idol on stage.
“She was so disappointed when they told her she missed Beyoncé,” her husband revealed with a laugh.
Rebecca Soto knows she can save her concert outfit for another time.
