The Mexican music group Maná is considered an institution of Latin American music. Although still active after 42 years of experience, this rock and pop band has had to cope with changes in the music industry.

One of these challenges is the emergence of new genres, one of which is reggaeton. With this in mind, singer Fher Olvera did not hesitate to speak out against the genre, notably refusing to collaborate with Bad Bunny, recently proclaimed King of Pop.

“He tells me that I should play some reggaeton to become internationally famous. “I tell my son I won’t do anything with Bad Bunny,” he warned Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

For the famous person, the inconsistency with this rhythm lies in the language they use and the content of the songs. “We’re being invaded by reggaeton. This is unfortunate because reggaeton has conquered the stages of Latin American music,” he emphasized.

“The language of reggaeton has a sexy element, but also veers into vulgarity. It’s about not having an ounce of time, dedication, ingenuity or creativity to make something better,” he added.

“I think they don't put much effort into the lyrics. Some are too violent and I don't really like them. Most of their singers, not all, have little talent. Maybe I'm getting old.
