The Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, at the XIV Ibero-American Business Meeting in Santo Domingo this Thursday, called for guaranteeing inclusive growth for the region that overcomes digital and gender divides.
The event, which is part of the XXVIII. The Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government was chaired by the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Raquel Peña, and had the participation of around 1,500 participants, including 100 speakers.
And on that first day of work, along with Allamand, the Permanent Secretary of the Council of Ibero-American Entrepreneurs, Antonio Garamendi, and the President of the National Council of Dominican Private Enterprise, Celso Marranzini.
In the interventions there was a firm commitment from the private sector to investment because, as the Ibero-American secretary said, “the region needs its businessmen” and he stressed the need to clean up all the ghosts of a lost decade and bet on growth in a coordinated corporate and governmental Act.
Peña spoke at the opening of the event, hailing the Ibero-American Leaders’ Summit and Business Meeting as an “open door” to seek common solutions to reduce inequalities, strengthen public institutions, carry out digital transformation and technological innovation.
During the activity, it was declared that the private sector is committed to a new social pact with public-private alliances to revitalize investment, accepting the challenge of digital transformation and investment in human capital, and acknowledging the challenges of the region, but expressing its willingness to cooperate.
Also presented this Thursday was the study “Corporate Commitment to Investments: The Role of Business in the Current Ibero-American Situation”, which found that increasing the attractiveness of the region, promoting a favorable business climate and a to promote close cooperation with the public -private property.
There was also a discussion on the Economic Outlook for Latin America 2022: Towards a Green and Just Transition, which detailed the environmental, social and economic benefits of a green transition that could create new jobs by 2030.
This Friday the business conclave will close and it is expected that Dominican President Luis Abinader will be present accompanied by other leaders and the transfer of the presidency of the Ibero-American Business Council to Ecuador will take place.
