The ninth floor of the Eaton Center, which housed the L’Île-de-France restaurant until 1999, will open its doors again at the end of the year after renovation work and will shine in its former glory.
So, in August 2000, Montreal residents will be able to re-enter this listed site.

“It is an important witness to Montreal’s commercial history that is being brought back to life,” said George Drolet, architect and senior associate director of EVOQ Architecture, who will be in charge of the renovation.
The Art Deco restaurant was designed by French architect Jacques Carlu, who is also the designer of the Trocadéro in Paris.
The architect was particularly inspired by the decoration of the transatlantic liners of the time.

Refurbishment work has already begun, building owner Ivanhoé Cambridge said in a statement.
Heritage Montreal is also collaborating on this project.
